# What does this implement/fix? Some AirPlay 2 TVs (Sony Bravia / Google TV) advertise PTP support but never answer a single clock probe, so playback stayed silent behind a healthy-looking session — and with no `_raop` service there was no escape hatch at all. The `force_raop` toggle is replaced by one advanced **streaming mode** selector per player, offering only the lanes the device actually advertises: AirPlay 2 with PTP timing, AirPlay 2 with NTP timing, AirPlay 2 compatibility mode, or AirPlay 1 (RAOP). Apple receivers keep no entry (always native AirPlay 2 + PTP). The modes map onto the binary's `--protocol`/`--timing` arguments (music-assistant/airplay-cli#69). - A solo player on Automatic that is *measured* never answering the PTP clock is switched to "AirPlay 2 - NTP timing" automatically — visibly, in its own settings — and playback restarts on it; setting it back to Automatic retries PTP - Grouped members and explicitly pinned modes are never auto-switched (only warned), so a live sync group can't be desynced by the heal - The old `force_raop` boolean is dropped without migration (beta-only setting; affected devices may now simply work via buffered streaming) Requires the next cliairplay release (with `--timing`) to be pinned before merge. **Related issue (if applicable):** - related issue https://github.com/music-assistant/support/issues/6087 ## Types of changes - [ ] Bugfix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue) — `bugfix` - [ ] New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality) — `new-feature` - [x] Enhancement to an existing feature — `enhancement` - [ ] New music/player/metadata/plugin provider — `new-provider` - [ ] Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to not work as expected) — `breaking-change` - [ ] Refactor (no behaviour change) — `refactor` - [ ] Documentation only — `documentation` - [ ] Maintenance / chore — `maintenance` - [ ] CI / workflow change — `ci` - [ ] Dependencies bump — `dependencies` ## Checklist - [x] The code change is tested and works locally. - [x] `pre-commit run --all-files` passes. - [x] `pytest` passes, and tests have been added/updated under `tests/` where applicable. - [ ] For changes to shared models, the companion PR in `music-assistant/models` is linked. - [ ] For changes affecting the UI, the companion PR in `music-assistant/frontend` is linked. - [x] I have read and complied with the project's [AI Policy](https://github.com/music-assistant/.github/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md) for any AI-assisted contributions. - [ ] I have [raised a PR against the documentation repository](https://github.com/music-assistant/music-assistant.io/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) targeting the main or beta branch as appropriate.
