# What does this implement/fix? Songs written for a film or musical were dated by the wrong release. MusicBrainz files a soundtrack as an album with a "Soundtrack" secondary type, and our release group filter dropped anything carrying a secondary type — so the song's original album was thrown away and the year (and radio artwork) came from an unrelated later release instead. Elton John's "Circle of Life" was dated 2013 instead of 1994, and The Beatles' "Ticket To Ride" 1993 instead of 1965. Soundtracks are now kept, unless they carry another secondary type as well (a "Compilation, Soundtrack" is still a compilation). Measured against a hand-dated sample of my own library, drawn blind: - 1530 library tracks scanned; the change touches 5.7% of them. - On a soundtrack-heavy sample of 100 hand-dated tracks: 8 songs went from no year at all to the right year, 6 got a better year, none got worse and none lost their year. - On a random 330-track sample (252 hand-dated): 2 new correct years, 2 corrected years, and 1 song that now picks up a wrong year from a much later soundtrack it was licensed to. - Radio artwork: 16 songs gained a cover where it previously fell back to artist art, 10 moved to a more fitting cover, none lost one. **Related issue (if applicable):** - n/a ## Types of changes - [ ] Bugfix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue) — `bugfix` - [ ] New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality) — `new-feature` - [x] Enhancement to an existing feature — `enhancement` - [ ] New music/player/metadata/plugin provider — `new-provider` - [ ] Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to not work as expected) — `breaking-change` - [ ] Refactor (no behaviour change) — `refactor` - [ ] Documentation only — `documentation` - [ ] Maintenance / chore — `maintenance` - [ ] CI / workflow change — `ci` - [ ] Dependencies bump — `dependencies` ## Checklist - [x] The code change is tested and works locally. - [x] `pre-commit run --all-files` passes. - [x] `pytest` passes, and tests have been added/updated under `tests/` where applicable. - [ ] For changes to shared models, the companion PR in `music-assistant/models` is linked. - [ ] For changes affecting the UI, the companion PR in `music-assistant/frontend` is linked. - [x] I have read and complied with the project's [AI Policy](https://github.com/music-assistant/.github/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md) for any AI-assisted contributions. - [ ] I have [raised a PR against the documentation repository](https://github.com/music-assistant/music-assistant.io/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) targeting the main or beta branch as appropriate.
